Irene Graziani is Associate Professor at the University of Bologna. She has worked on Eighteenth-Century Bolognese painting, with a particular focus on the activities of Bolognese artists working in the cosmopolitan courts of Europe, and on portraiture. A further area of her research concerns the phenomenon of the woman artist and the relationship between the image and the paths of spirituality taken by female monastic communities.
