Lorenzo Lotto, collection, zodiacal signsAbstract
The research focuses on the meaning of the stones collection owned by Lorenzo Lotto many times recorded on his account book, in which zodiacal signs were carved. Following the rut of Renaissance studies, where the relationship between material and image is crucial to figure out the importance of the object, the collection of the artist is studied considering images, symbolisms and functions of their iconographical tradition.
