The essay presents the full transcription of three notarial records reporting a loan granted by Leonello Spada to a Bolognese fisherman in 1617. Twenty years later, Guido Reni was relieved as a guarantor of the loan and he appointed the painter Marco Bandinelli to the drafting of the record. The poor conditions of the papers compelled the transcription of these documents, which are invaluable proofs of the economic relationships taking place in the Bolognese artistic community.Downloads
