This paper, starting from a comparative study on the different displays present in the Municipal Art Collections of Palazzo d’Accursio in Bologna, pays attention to the several museum enjoyment models characterising the civic museum.
The essay summarises, not only the studies up to now carried out on the historical shaping of Municipal Art Collections and the architectural trasformations that led to the creation of current museum spaces, but especially it aims to analyze the receptive capacity of the Municipal Art Collections and its enjoyment conditions to the public.
The museological actuality of Municipal Art Collections is based on the period rooms’s presence, inside of so-called “Ala Rusconi”, one of the constituent elements of the museum at the time of its birth with the Mostra del Settecento Bolognese of 1935.
